Pauline Hazelwood
Pauline trained at Central School of Art & Design where she qualified with a BA (Hons) in Graphic Design. She worked as an illustrator for many years in editorial and publishing before turning to oil painting. Pauline has exhibited work at the National Portrait Gallery and Mall Galleries and regularly teaches classes and painting holidays. Commissions for trains and planes led her back to illustrating and she wrote, illustrated and self-published a series of books on steam engines. Pauline has won awards with the Royal Institute of Oil Painters and the Royal Society of British Artists as well as exhibiting with the Society of Women Artists, the Guild of Aviation Artists and the Guild of Railway Artists.
Pauline has a varied body of work and loves this aspect of her job, finding that loose watercolour painting, impressionistic landscapes, plein-air painting and humorous cartooning balances nicely with slow focused painting of more detailed subjects.
