Tushar Sabale

Tushar Sabale is an Indian born, British artist based in London. He mainly paints ‘en plein air’ in oil colours but occasionally enjoys painting objects and has transitioned from painting portraits to landscapes in the recent years.

At the age of twelve years, Tushar was awarded first prize and a National award in a Drawing and Painting Competition amongst one million students who participated that year across the whole of India which gave a boost to his passion for drawing and painting. This led him to choose a five year Architecture degree at the university followed by a two years Master’s Degree in Product designing, from one of the leading institutes in India-‘The Indian Institute of Technology’, New Delhi.

Tushar embarked on his professional career as a ‘Creative Designer’ in multinational companies, designing watches for brands like Timex and other designer products and accessories. His move to London saw him working for various design companies including a high-end jewellery brand wherein he was involved in designing pieces for Hollywood movies (Tim Burton’s Dark Shadows, Maleficent, Snow white and the Huntsman and others).

Even with his professional success as a designer, there was something Tushar had ignored which was his innate need to paint. After a few years of sabbatical, he rekindled the love affair with his paintbrushes and started to paint again in 2012. After being a weekend painter for a few years Tushar now paints full-time.
In 2021, Tushar co-founded a painting group; ‘London Plein Air’, with an idea of bringing artists together to paint in the city of London. As of Summer 2022, the group has close to 100 members and has had an overwhelming response with almost 50 artists turning up at the latest event to share their joy of painting plein-air.
Tushar has exhibited in notable Art galleries in the country like Adrian Hill Fine Art, The Gallery-Holt, Russell Gallery-London and also the Mall galleries for the Federation of British Artists.
Tushar is a candidate member of ‘The Wapping Group of Artists’.
