Susan Neale
Susan studied art in Brighton and London, where she graduated with a BA. Hons in Illustration, later gaining a PGCE from Huddersfield University. She was a commercial artist for over 20 years, specialising in book and magazine work and later taught art and design for several colleges.
Susan works mainly in watercolour and has had 2 solo shows. She has been an Artist in Residence at Castle Howard and the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust as well as a demonstrating artist for The National Trust and the RHS. Her work is in private collections in the UK and abroad, including commissioned portraits for Queen Mary University and The Reform Club in London. In 2001 she was awarded 1st prize in the nationwide competition for IPC magazine, for her work “Boy and Stickleback”. She has exhibited at the Mall Galleries in London with both the New English Art Club and the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolour.
Susan has taught on painting holidays in Spain and Greece and is a regular art tutor for the annual Marlborough Summer School. She believes good teaching is based on experience, planning, knowledge and communication, plus kindness, inspiration, empathy and lots of fun!
