Ronnie Ireland

Ronnie Ireland graduated with a BA in Drawing & Painting from Glasgow School of Art and went on to complete a BA Hons degree with The Open University, majoring in 20th Century Arts, History and Philosophy. He has exhibited work in Scotland, Northern England and now mainly in the Home Counties, where he now lives.
His work is usually allegorical in nature, whether featuring the figure (my main subject), Landscape or Still Life. It always leaves space for the viewer to enter into the picture, developing their own ideas with whatever narrative he has implied. He works mainly on commission for private collectors. His influences come from the old masters coupled with theatre, film and photography.
In Ronnie’s classes, talks, workshops and demonstrations, the main interest is in how to develop your own creativity, rather than in technique for its own sake.
Some of Ronnie’s unique, creativity-based demonstrations and workshops include How to use Perspective; Using music as inspiration; Using text as inspiration; Towards Abstraction; Using sketchbooks. In comparison, technique-based sessions include Painting People; Life Drawing; Using Acrylics; Composition; Working Expressively, to name but a few. In addition, Ronnie has developed a huge array of Illustrated talks about Artists and Movements throughout Art History. For a full list, please take a look at his website.
