Paul Alcock

Paul Alcock has a BA Hons in Fine Art Painting from Camberwell Art School. He works as a full-time artist and tutor, teaching regular adult classes near his home in Essex. Specialising in oil painting, Paul particularly enjoys contrasts of light, shape, colour and texture and likes to explore the pictorial possibilities within familiar everyday subjects, such as people absorbed in the ebb and flow of life and familiar objects and places or places that hold some other type of connection. His work also explores form and colour through landscapes and still lives and he looks upon painting and drawing as a celebration of life.
Among his notable recent achievements, Paul reached the semi-finals of Sky Arts Landscape Artist of the Year competition in 2018. In the same year, he won second prize at Paint Out Yarmouth and Paint Out Norwich and in 2020, he exhibited work at The Mall Galleries in London as part of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters exhibition. In 2012, he was selected by the BBC to be one of a group of artists chosen to paint live during their coverage of the Queens Diamond Jubilee River Pageant.
Paul exhibits both locally and nationally and works on commission.
