Elaine Almond
"Art for me is about being expressive & conveying feelings that others can relate to. I love colour and abstract forms and my work is inspired by the natural world around, life experiences and my spiritual life. It gives me mental space, real joy in creating and enduring friendships.
Ideas come from plein-air sketching in the landscape and coast, as well as from within myself. I use acrylic, oils, inks and collage, to paint semi-abstract and abstract paintings. I paint in series, anything from 4 – 10 paintings together with a common colour palette and theme before moving on. Work begun outdoors is completed in the studio. Abstract work has a life of its own in multilayered paintings.
I have exhibited locally, around the south east and at national art fairs. I offer individual art tuition to individuals and groups, and was area coordinator for South East Open Studios for the last 2 years. I am a member of the Pure Arts Group, Sevenoaks Visual Arts Forum, the Visual Arts Association, and registered with Art Profile (www.artprofile.co.uk) as an art teacher. My work is in private collections in the UK, Eire, Canada and Costa Rica. In 2023 I exhibited in the ING Discerning Eye in London, and I was a finalist in the Visual Art Open 2024, again exhibiting in London."
