Laura Reiter

Laura is a painter/printmaker working from her studio in North London.  She has a BA Hons degree in painting and an MA Printmaking degree and has exhibited her work extensively. She is also a member of the Greenwich Printmakers.  
Laura works in both mediums equally working with mixed media in painting and screenprinting – she is a member of the Greenwich Printmakers   She is essentially a semi abstract artist and is in love with colour.  She works organically, making marks according to the last mark made so that the work has as much spontaneity and energy as possible.  Her subject matter includes natural form, landscapes and cityscapes and quirky manmade objects for which she is constantly seeking found and bought objects to inspire her.
Her screenprinting work is carried out in a similar way to her painting practice – working  as organically as possible  but the medium allows her to include photographic elements in the images when needed.
She has also written two practical art books; `Learn to Paint Abstracts`, Harper Collins and `Beginners Guide to Abstract Art`, Batsford Books. She has also written a variety of articles for The Artist Magazine and Artists and Illustrator's Magazine.
She has a lively interest in both historical and contemporary art and will often include references in her teaching.

She has taught for many years in a number of different settings, having gained a teacher training qualification and recently, during the pandemic, began teaching successfully on Zoom. Some of the videos she has made for her Zoom sessions are available on You Tube.
Above all, she loves the ‘journey’ of making her art, trying constantly to improve and move forward with her work.

Media: I work with mixed media using many different types of materials.  These include acrylics, acrylic inks, watercolours, oil pastels, collage, simple printing, drawing etc.  I work on canvas and paper.  I can demonstrate/teach in all these – usually with a theme. I am also a printmaker and could demonstrate making images using a variety of simple printing methods
