Kelly Briggs

Kelly Briggs is a visionary artist who strives to offer a new outlook on our human existence. She operates at the crossroads of art and science, constantly captivated by the mechanics of the world on both a micro and macro level. With a keen eye for detail, Kelly examines the intricate workings of cellular activity under a microscope, while simultaneously exploring the vast expanses of space to better comprehend our place in the universe. Her unique approach to blending art and science allows her to convey complex concepts in a visually striking manner, prompting viewers to consider their place in the world in a new light.
Kelly's talent has recently been recognised by a variety of prestigious institutions, including the Cambridge Stem Cell Institute, global biopharmaceutical company Astra Zeneca, the renowned contemporary art gallery Kettle's Yard, and the iconic Kew Gardens. Her collaborations with these influential organisations have allowed her to push the boundaries of art and science, and convey complex concepts in a visually striking and thought-provoking manner.

Media and Subjects: Kelly can offer the following Art for Wellbeing Workshops:

Natural inks and paints: Make your own natural inks or paints - choose between watercolour or oil painting mediums. (For an all day session we will also learn to make sketchbooks to paint in for natural inks). Also available as a demo.

Inky landscapes: Create a breathtaking landscape painting that reflects a special place to you. We will start with a meditation of the place that means something to you before delving into your inky interpretation of it. Also available as a demo.

Expressive drawing to music: Charcoal / pastels. Get your adrenaline pumping and let loose. Dance around and get lost in the music as your paint. Leave the session feeling energised and motivated.

Drawing the breath: Charcoal / Soft pastels. Time to pause and focus on your breath. This workshop will allow you to fully immerse yourself in the moment. End the session feeling a sense of calm, focus and awareness. Can work in person or online.

Sculpture for divergent thinking: We will work through a set of challenges designed to develop diverse and creative ways of thinking using clay, wire and recycled materials.

Low fi printmaking: Monoprint, relief print. We will learn printmaking techniques that we can do at home using cardboard, ink and a wooden spoon, monoprint.

Will travel to: Based in Hertfordshire, Kelly will travel to local groups in Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire and parts of Cambridgeshire. Kelly is currently on maternity leave until April 2025.
