Jan Munro

Jan has been painting for 23 years. She began her Art making using watercolour and now works mainly in acrylic and collage to create contemporary still life, harbour scenes, landscapes and more recently, abstract works.
Jan prefers to move away from the reality of a subject and through sketching and intuitive process, paints how she feels about the character of a thing or place. Exploring the mediums of paint and collage plays a large part n the process. Inspiration comes from favourite places especially North East Scotland and Cornwall.

Pattern is an important element in Jan's work as is tonal design and composition.

Jan has been teaching adults for nearly 20 years. She has run weekly classes in watercolour but now prefers to run one and two day workshops to encourage students in the process of design and the use of collage and acrylic.

Her work is held in various UK galleries and she exhibits locally in art society shows and art group events.
