Painting is fun and I firmly believe it should be viewed as such. I attempt to infuse joy into my paintings often making them slightly 'quirky'. In so doing I put my inner self into my animal paintings which are very often portraits as opposed to landscapes containing animals. Every painting I do has something of me in it.

I paint mainly in watercolour although I have been known to introduce pastel and coloured pencil to a specific piece. Watercolour is my chosen medium because of its transparency. In my paintings I use a limited palette, keeping to transparent colours. I do enjoy experimenting with colour.

I am a tutor for 4 local art groups and tutor a series of classes and workshops for the Staffs Wildlife Trust at their headquarters outside Stafford. I demonstrate and hold one day workshops in watercolour to art groups and have been extremely gratified with the response from members.

It is rewarding to see the pleasure introducing students to the watercolour medium gives. I try to impart to my students the joy, sense of freedom and release that I get from painting, whilst at the same time encouraging them to put their own style and personality into their work. Whilst detailed in part, I keep my working loose with the emphasis on tone and shape using brushes to suit the size I am working on. Self-taught, it is satisfying that from exhibiting my work I achieve sales and commissions so that my work is now held in collections both in the UK and abroad. I have exhibited and sold at venues including the Birmingham Botanical Gardens and the National Exhibition of Wildlife Art (NEWA). I have paintings on permanent exhibition at venues in Stafford, my home town.

Although my venture into human portraiture is relevantly recent, my portrait 'Nonna' was recently awarded the Barracks Trust prize at the Three Counties Open Exhibition at Keele University in 2013 and also chosen best portrait and best in show at an independently selected annual exhibition of Stafford Art Group. I have also received various local group awards over the years.

I am a member, and Chairperson of Stafford Art Group, a member of TWSA (The Wildlife Society of Artists) and a founding member of Earth Partners. In 2013 I became a PA of the Society for all Artists and was accepted as a member of the Birmingham Watercolour Society.

Based in Stafford, I am available for workshops and demonstrations within a 50 mile radius.
