Mike Dobson


Mike is an established watercolourist, painting commissions and exhibiting in galleries and exhibitions around Yorkshire as well as teaching and tutoring around the region. He is Chairman of the York & District Society of Amateur Artists and a member of the British Watercolour Society and tutors for several international Cruise Lines. He has just returned from tutoring on the P&O Christmas and New Year Cruise to the Caribbean. He also organises an annual watercolour course held at Higham Hall, Cumbria each June.

Mike took early retirement as Principal Community Education Officer for North Yorkshire County Council and was awarded the MBE for 'Services to young people and North Yorkshire County Council' in The Queen's New Year Honours on 30 December 1995. He trained as a teacher and subsequently completed an advanced Diploma in Adult Education and a Master of Education Degree at the University of Leeds. He is a Fellow of the Institute for Learning.

Mike is available for demonstrations in Yorkshire and the North.
