Diane is a self-taught artist specializing in Fantasy and Wildlife. She began painting about 20 years ago after receiving a set of oil paints as a Christmas present from her brother, who is also an artist. After much trial and error, her paintings eventually began to sell and she turned professional about 4 years ago.
Diane is happy to demonstrate in either Oils or Acrylics and one unique feature of her Wildlife demonstrations is that as she has a collection of different Birds of Prey, and she can usually be persuaded to take one along for people to sketch or photograph. Diesel, the European Eagle Owl, and Dufus the Barn Owl seem to be current favourites! She has various breeds of Owls, Hawks and Buzzards, any of which can be brought to a demonstration.
The Fantasy paintings tend to be based on various Mythology stories or just pure imagination, as Diane refuses to grow up and still loves books like the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe more than any other. Reading that book at age 7 started her passion for lions and they feature in a lot of her work.
Diane is a member of The Wildlife Art Society International, Marwell Art Society , The Society of Equestrian Artists and the SAA as a Professional Associate.
Past exhibitions have been with all of the above societies and a week spent as resident artist with the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund at Nature in Art. She has also been represented by Agora Gallery in SoHo, New York. Her work is sold regularly both here and abroad and she is currently working on a series of commissions featuring angels, for a client in France.
Commissions in either subject and or medium are always welcome and demonstrations are sheer fun!
